Brompton axle nuts and washers for STURMEY ARCHER 3 speed hub
Technical notes:
Tab Washers:
This pack comes with two sets of tab washers - one set is gold or silver (depending upon the pack it seems) and one set is grey/black in colour.
The gold tab washers are for use on current model Bromptons.
The grey/black tab washers are for use on the old 5 speed Bromptons.
Axle nuts:
These must only be used on Sturmey Archer hubs, if used on SRAM/Brompton single or two speed hubs they mey start to fit then strip the thread - so don't do it.
Chain tensioner / gear indicator nut:
(This is the nut with a hole in the side)
On pre-2003 Sturmey Archer hub (with steel shell) use the short (16.9mm) nut.
Later hubs (normally with alloy shell) use the longer (16.9mm) nut.
The difference may be small - but it is essential to use the right one.
