  • Brompton saddles

For the 2024 model Brompton folding bikes the following saddle is fitted:

    • C Line - standard Brompton saddle - black
    • P Line - super light saddle - black
    • T Line - carbon super light saddle - black

The standard saddle has black saddle rails (compatible with most other bike saddles - one of the few things that are pretty compatible across bikes) and a leather covering

The stitching which was on earlier model year saddles has been removed - this means there is less chance of chaffing

There are two saddle sizes available from Brompton

    • wider saddle - 167mm wide - available as an aftermarket option
    • standard saddle 147mm wide

Both of these made for Brompton saddles feature two mounting holes on the underneath - allowing the fitment of a CatEye rear light

    Other saddles available from Brompton

Also available from Brompton - to give some English Style - are brown leather Brooks saddles (available as a mens or ladies fit) - this is the Brooks B17 special with copper coloured rails and rivets. We describe these as being like Birkenstock shoes - they take a while to mould to your body - then provide a comfortable fit. Like a fine pair of leather shoes, they also need some looking after.

    Older Brompton saddles

We used to have some of the older Brompton coloured saddles in stock - Blue, White, Yellow, Red and Lime. Unfortunately these are now sold out). These older saddles have better looking stitching (in our opinion) and no mounting point for the CatEye light

    Stock availability

We try and keep at least one of each saddle in stock at all times - so you can get your Brompton back on the road as soon as possible if you need to replace it - however, due to the pandemic, supplies have currently run out!

Brompton rear CatEye light - saddle mounted

To attach the saddle to the seatpost - you will need a Pentaclip (Bromptons own design of saddle / seat post interface). This allows the saddle to be connected to the bike and adjusted forwards and backwards on the saddle rails, approx 2cm / 1 inch of up / down adjustment by turning the Pentaclip upside down, and adjusting of the saddle angle

Other Brooks saddles for your Brompton

Brompton have traditionally supplier the Brooks B17 special (in brown) as an option for Brompton folding bikes - there are also other compatible saddles available in a range of colours from Brooks England (and some grips to match)

    Brooks B17

The Brooks saddle supplied by Brompton for years is available in different colours:

    • Brown
    • Black
    • Honey
    • Aged Leather

These saddles are available in mens or ladies/short sizes - and some with a carved centre for pressure relief when riding

    Brooks Cambium

These are a more weather resistant saddle - available in a wider and wider choice of width and colour

  • Brompton handlebar grips

    Brompton grips

Handlebar grips are important - because they are one of just three contact points between you and the bike (along with the saddle and pedals)

    Brompton handlebar types

There are 4 Brompton models - defined by handlebar type:

    • S-type - Straight / Sports
    • M-type - the traditional Brompton style handlebars
    • H-type - is actually the same bars as the M-type - with a higher stem
    • P-type - multi-Positional bars - ideal for touring (discontinued by Brompton in 2020)

    Brompton handlebar grip types

There is a slight complication in that M-type / H-type bars changed in 2017 from low rise to high rise, so for grips there are the following possibilities:

    • P-type (discontinued in 2020 - we would recommend using road bike bar tape)
    • M-type / H-type as used on the B75 edition and pre-2017 (high rise version) - these grips are 100mm
    • S-type (all) / M-type / H-type 2017 onwards (low rise version) - these grips are 130mm

So the grips for M/H type bars (since 2017) and S-type are the same - they are 130mm lock on - quite common through the bike world, meaning you now have a greater choice of grips for your Brompton

    Ergon grips

We have included the Ergon grips here as they were fitted on the Brompton CHPT3 2017/2018 edition - Ergon GA2 (in red) and on the NYC edition - Ergon GP2.

The Ergon grips are designed specifically to give you a more comfortable ride

    Brooks Slender GripShift grips

We have included the Brooks Slender leather grips - as these are shorter than standard grips and we think are ideal as an upgrade for B75 / high rise (pre-2017 bars) where there is less room for the grips (this is because of the sharper bend on the old handlebars)
