Over the past couple of years, 115mm of travel would have been associated with a steep head angle, high bottom bracket, and overall twitchy geometry.
Thankfully bikes have progressed from those days, and we now have a relatively new genre of mountain bikes that don't necessarily fall into any category.
This Intense Spider 275 is short travel, like a cross country bike, but geometry is nothing of the sort.
A slack 67° head angle, 13.25" Bottom Bracket height, and super short 16.5" chainstays changes the game completely.
With the Spider 275, you'll be able to climb hills like you're on an XC bike, and descend technical downhills with the confidence of a longer travel enduro bike - oh yea, and you'll be having a serious amount of fun the whole way down. Geometry plays a huge roll in how this bike rides, and Intense hit the nail squarely on the head with the Spider 275. Pair it up with a 130mm travel fork, and the result will be a playful and snappy trail bike that climbs incredibly well.
At the heart of the Spider 275 is Intense's tried-and-true VPP suspension platform, offering snappy pedaling performance and great small-bump compliance. Travel is adjustable between 115mm and 130mm via the lower shock bolt mounting position. Simply unscrew the lower shock bolt, and position the shock in either the upper or lower mounting hole. The upper setting provides 130mm of travel, and the lower setting provides 115mm. This only affects suspension travel - geometry remains unchanged. The Cane Creek Double Barrel Inline is the shock of choice on the Spider 275, offering fantastic performance and a huge range of adjustability including separate high/low speed compression and rebound. It also features a Climb Switch, which improves climbing performance by deadening both low speed rebound and low speed compression. The frame is constructed from Intense's proprietary hydroformed aluminum tubing, and welded right at home in their Temecula, California factory.
