The BLACK edition right hand (as you sit on the bike) folding pedal features more black than the standard Brompton pedal
This is not the old plastic RH (Right Hand) Brompton pedal which used to fall apart - and was also predominantly black, but made of plastic.
This one (based on the aluminium pedal introduced around 2009) has an aluminium cage. This pedal weighs approx. 126g
There is even Brompton detailing on the spindle- a folded Brompton on one side and an unfolded Brompton on the other side
The pedals have amber coloured reflectors (held on with two screws per reflector) to give you better visibility at night
Note: The thread on the right hand pedal means that you do it up in the normal way - turn clockwise (or to the right if you don't wear a watch). This means that over time (as you pedal) the thread can become tighter and tighter - which may make it difficult to remove.
Tools required:
This pedal can be fitted / removed using one of two tools:
Option 1 / 15mm thin spanner
Preferably a pedal wrench / spanner to give good leverage as pedals can become screwed on pretty tight after years of hard pushing for removal
Option 2/ A 6mm Allen key / hex wrench
The allen key hole is accessed through the hole in the pedal crank
Apply some grease to the thread to make future removal easier and hand tighten the pedal first before using a tool to fully tighten
We made a short YouTube video (below) to show how to remove and install this pedal:
