February 2021 update

COVID 19 and the pandemic

The shop is still open - face masks are mandatory - we are only allowing one family group at a time into the shop - and no browsing just because you're bored and no-where else is open!

Shipping outside the UK

In January most carriers stopped taking bookings outside of the UK

We are now using DPD to ship to Europe and Worldwide - we are still working out how to handle the new paperwork - we definitely didn't vote for this! and the UK government are definitely doing their best to sink this island!

If you are in the EU - the prices we charge will be excluding VAT - though the carrier will now charge you when they deliver the item for VAT in your local country. There may also be customs duties to pay (and these seem to vary depending upon country and item - so we are unable to guess this cost - sorry)

Royal Mail have started accepting small items for shipment to the EU - so we are seeing how this works on a limited basis

Bike and spare parts supply

We have almost no bikes due to supply chain issues around the world caused by the pandemic

We expect this to extend more and more to spare parts

Shipping to the UK

We are still shipping Internet orders - there are definitely long delays to deliveries by Royal Mal. It's been bad enough that we are now using DPD where feasible to get your order to you as quickly and safely as possible.

Packed orders are being taken to Royal Mail as quick as normal (twice a day to get them into their system as quickly as possible), but 1st class post is taking over 10 days in some cases

Bikes!

There is a world shortage of bikes and components to make these - lead times are exceptionally long

At the time of writing (Jan 2021) some mountain bikes have a lead time so long that they aren't expected until November - yes - almost a year away and after the summer season

Frog bikes are also intermittent - we have no idea when / if any will be available

About your delivery

Free, fast delivery on all orders to UK mainland is standard from Brilliant Bikes*

(*Sorry we don't ship complete bikes - as they need to be assembled in our workshop - just components, spare parts and accessories)

Here's how your order gets to you

First, you choose and order the stuff you want. We show you the quantities that we have in stock, so you know if it's really going to get shipped. (We hate the Internet lottery of not quite knowing if what you are ordering is really going to be sent immediately)

Then we lovingly put it in a suitable sized package - reusing boxes / packaging wherever possible (it may not always look the best - but we try to do what is best to reduce waste).

We try and ship all orders - for items which are in stock - as quickly as possible. Monday to Friday, if you order before 3pm and Saturday before 11am it should almost certainly be sent the same day.

(Did we mention that we use Royal Mail 1st class for all of our deliveries where possible? - although for some larger / heavier / valuable items we will use other carriers - even though it may say Royal Mail when you select carrier - sorry!)

Live in the Highlands / Islands / Northern Ireland part of the UK (someone asked if Wales counted - yes, we think it's still part of the UK)? - we still don't charge for delivery.

The Royal Mail (or an express carrier company) then work their magic - and somehow it ends up where you wanted it delivered.

Large / high value orders

Note: If your order is too big to put through the letter box and you are not in, then postman will probably leave you a nice card asking you to collect from your local post office.

Another note: If your order is going to the UK and is too big / valuable to go via Royal Mail we will send with DPD - this sometimes takes longer (an extra day if it is ordered after lunch) as we have to arrange a carrier

Another note: If you live really close by ... we may deliver by hand / bike!

Updates / follow-up

When your parcel leaves us we e-mail you with a dispatch notification so you know it is on its way.

What if it doesn't go to plan?

Even with all the best of intentions - it is still possible (though not probable) that things can go wrong, unfortunately.

Just contact us by clicking here to send us an email or calling us on free on 0800 756 1284 (from the UK) or +44 (0) 1276 856779 and letting us know what the issue is - and we will resolve it. (Shop open 09:00-16:00 Monday to Saturday - closed Sundays and public holidays, sorry)

Deliveries outside UK?

We are starting too deliver to European Union countries - it's much harder than it used to be thank you Brexit!

Does it look too expensive to the EU? We use DPD now - trying to get the best delivery service while keeping the cost as low as we can. If it costs us less than we charge you, we'll refund you the difference (we are not here to make money from postage)

We don't sell on Amazon - but you can buy direct from us :-)
