Brompton folding detail, joints, frame clamps etc

As you probably have noticed by now, the Brompton is a folding bike. This means it has specific parts which help with the folding mechanism, such as frame clamps, handlebar catch and front axle hook

Some of these are tough plastic - but that means they can become brittle with age / exposure to light - so eventually they will need replacing

The suspension block is a softer rubber like material - and over time this can wear / split - there are also two versions, standard and firm (firm is recommended for people over 75kg or wanting a more sporty ride)

We also have (for those older Brompton bikes out there) the retrofittable rear frame clip - this stops the bike from automatically folding every time you pick it up (e.g. to carry up some station steps)

  • Brompton frame parts

Brompton frame parts are currently only available when installed and fitted by a full Brompton stockist.

Main frame, rear frame, handlebar stem and front forks

Brompton frames are currently available only in case of crash replacement by special request

Extra is charged for the non-current and gloss colours as these are specially painted for your request.

  • Brompton Handlebars...

Handlebars, seat posts (or seat pillars if you prefer) for the Brompton folding bicycle range

Brompton's come with three handlebar types

    M-type - the original
H-type - the same as the original, but with a longer stem for a higher ride position
    S-type - sports / straight
P-type - multi position for touring

Seat post's come in three different sizes, and can be sized based on the riders inside leg measurement.

  • Brompton Headset

Replacement Brompton headsets and headset related parts

Brompton headsets are now available in steel (and in black or sliver) and aluminium models (for a very slight weight saving)

These headsets are compatible with all Brompton models

  • Brompton rear racks...

Brompton rack / advance roller rack and sccessories

The Brompton rear rack now comes in two designs and two colours

    • Brompton standard rear rack - silver
    • Brompton standard rear rack - black
    • Brompton advance rack - black - for P Line / T Line

The rear rack serves two purposes

    • Makes rolling the Brompton easier when the bike is folded
    • Allows carrying of things on the back of the bike when not folded

The Brompton rear carrier is the perfect size for transporting a 16 inch pizza. We know this because we use these pizza boxes for transporting Brompton tyres, which we sometimes deliver by Brompton!

Here you can find the complete racks to upgrade your bike if it did not have one and spare parts should you break the one you do have

Note: The standard rear rack is also suitable for the Brompton Electric folding bike (though not offered as a factory fit option)

  • Brompton roller wheels

Brompton rollers, Eazy Wheels and roller spare parts allow the wheeling of your Brompton about when folded.

All Brompton come with roller wheels on the rear and the standard ones have been improved over time.

Older Bromptons had cone shaped forward roller wheels - which break if treated too harshly. These have now been replaced with more robust wheels, which are also slightly narrower - reducing the risk of catching your ankles on them.

Eazy wheels (why not easy wheels?) facilitate easier rolling of the Brompton when folded - turning your expensive bike into an awesome shopping trolley (especially welcomed in Waitrose).
