Hello, I want to change from a 50t chainring to a 44t chainring. What do I need in terms of parts and tools? My Brompton is a H6L (2018) and have only clocked under 80miles. I already have a Brompton toolkit. Thank you. Answer:
You will need a 44T chain ring, link as follows: https://brilliantbikes.co.uk/brompton-chainsets/2378-brompton-black-chain-ring-guard-assembly-for-44t-spider-chainwheel.html A CNW-2, link as follows: https://brilliantbikes.co.uk/bike-tools/66-chain-ring-nut-wrench-cnw-2-from-park-tool-usa.html to undo the chain ring and do up the smaller chain ring. You will then need a master link pliers to break the chain, link as follows: https://brilliantbikes.co.uk/bike-tools/571-park-tool-mlp-1-master-link-pliers.html . Then yuo either need to remove two links from the chain using a chain tool, link as follows: https://brilliantbikes.co.uk/bike-tools/3572-pedros-6-pack-chain-tool.html or a new chain if you plan to also replace your rear sprockets
