Brompton G and G Line electric Headset set

Replacement G Line and G line electric Brompton headset 

This is a replacement Brompton headset as used on the Brompton G line and G line electric Brompotn bicycles as introduced in 2023

Size: 1 1/8 inch

Tools required:

• 4mm allen key / hex wrench
• Torque wrench 
• Suitable grease 

Fitting the headset:

• Lightly grease all bearings and mating surfaces, including the head and thread of the bolts 
• Apply a small amount of grease inside the fork steerer (FS) 
• Avoid getting the grease clamping surfaces
• Fit the headset angular contact bearing (HB L) to the fork (as shown in the data sheet included in the headset)
• Fit the upper angler headset bearing  (HB U) to the top of the head tube
• Fit the headset compression ring (HCR) followed by the headset steerer seal (HS-RS) and headset ring (HSRS)
• Fit the steerer hinge clamp (SHC) over the fork steerer (FS) and tighten the preload bold to 4Nm using a 4mm Allen (Hex) key
• Unfold the handlebar support and align the handlebar with the front wheel 
• Partially tighten the righthand steerer hinge clamp bolts bolts (SHCB-3 and 4) on the right of the fork, followed by the two bolts on the left
• Take the bike out of the stand and check the alignment of the handlebars 
• Tighten the bolts to 8Nm following the same sequence 
• It is very important to tighten the bolts to the correct torque 

Removal:

• To separate the steerer hinge clamp (SHC) and the fork steerer (FS), fold the handlebar stem to reveal the pinch Bolt (PB) int he center of the steerer hinge clamp (SHC)
• Undo the bolt and remove it 
• Undo the 4 steerer hinge clamp bolts (SHCB) by 3 - 4 turns 
• Do not remove completely to prevent the steerer clamp plate from falling out 
• Gently twist the steerer hinge clamp and pull upward to seperate form the fork steerer

Do not try to adjust the steerer stop band, this requires specialised tools
