Brompton double wall rim - angled holes - silver

Brompton 16 inch / ETRTO 349 bicycle wheel rim, double wall, angle drilled with 28 holes.

Rim ERD is 328

Brompton replacement wheel rim for rear hub geared wheels (Sturmey Archer and SRAM/Sachs) only.

Note: For use only with an internal-geared rear hub such as:
Brompton Sturmey Archer BSR (Standard ratio)
Brompton Sturmey Archer BWR (Wide ratio)
Sachs/SRAM 3/6 speed
Sturmey Archer sprinter
Sturmey Archer S-RF3 

Note (another one): If you are changing from a single wall rim to a double wall rim then you will require different spokes to your existing ones.

Valve hole is drilled to accept 8mm schrader / car type valves.

Now (as at Jan 2024) also known as the option 2 rim (Option 1 being the aero rim)

Thin walls ?

Fitted one of these just a year ago and the wals have split already, the walls appear to be really thin and its expensive to build the wheel again. I have to buy another but the original one lasted 3 yesrd plus.

    Failed after two years

    When pumping tyres to the recommended 90 PSI the edges of the rim pushed outwards and the rim split at the join. (This after 2 years of use) Only happened on the old style rim after 7 years. Not any option that I can see but get a new one and keep tyre pressure lower.

      Nice rim

      Took a couple of goes to match the angled holes with the required lacing pattern. But once tightened up and trued it runs very well.
      If you are replacing an old single wall rim, don't forget the spokes are a slightly different length and you will need new rim-tape.
