Brompton Explore mid handlebars folding bike - Brompton Barbour special edition

Brompton have teamed up with Barbour to produce this limited edition Brompton Barbour bike. The detailing is silver, including the Pentaclip, aluminium hinge clamp plates and quick release are silver, along with the mudguards, seatpost and crankset 

The 6 speed Brompton has (for us at least) rapidly become the the most popular model. With 6 gears in a wide gear ratio, hill climbing is just that bit easier

Brompton Barbour special edition specifications:

1. Frame
Regular - all steel
Folded size: 585mm wide x 565mm tall by 270mm deep

2. Colour
Main frame: Amble sands gloss powder coat 
Extremities: Amble sands gloss powder coat 
Decal colour: New gold Brompton and Barbour decal 

3. Handlebars
2017 onwards classic Brompton style M-type - the classic Brompton shape offering a comfortable ride - silver handlebars
New (introduced in 2017) lock-on handlebar grips - held in place with an allen bolt instead of glue, making future changing (if required) easier
The bell is a new integrated style in gold 

4. Gears / drivechain
6 speed BWR (Brompton Wide Ratio) internal hub gear equipped rear wheel plus 2 speed derailleur system (giving 6 gears in total)
The bike uses the integrated brake / shifter setup first introduced to Brompton bikes in 2017

5. Front luggage system
A front carrier block is included - to enable you to easily add one of the many Brompton luggage options (may weight 11kg)
Using luggage on the Brompton carrier system allows you to carry things without overly affecting the handling of the bike

6. Mudguards
Front and rear mudguards for all weather riding / commuting - they really are effective 
Colour: Silver (with black mudguard flaps)

7. Roller wheels
Standard roller wheels help keep the bike stable when folded - having a rack means there are 4 roller wheels making it more stable than non-rack bikes when folded

8. Tyres / Wheels
Schwalbe Marathon Almotion ADDIX transparent skin tyres  16 x 1 1/3 inch tyres
16 inch (ETRTO size 349) wheels with double wall rim and 28 spokes
Schrader / car type 8mm valve 

9. Saddle
Brooks C17 Barbour saddle – Silt Grey fitted with a silver PentaClip

10. Seat height
Fitted as standard with the telescopic seatpost  

11. Suspension
Since 2018 there was only one suspension - equivalent to the old hard/firm suspension block

12. Lighting / reflectors
Reflectors front and rear
These can easily be upgraded to Brompton lighting if required

13. Luggage
The bike comes with two pieces of luggage:

1. The Barbour x Brompton zip pouch in tartan check fabric, with dimensions of 18 x 13 x 4.5, which has a zip able main pocket and a body strap. It attaches to the handlebars or the rear of the saddle
2. Barbour x Brompton wax cotton holdall in olive, with a 24 litre capacity and dimensions of 44 x 30 x 18, it has a large main compartment and a front zip pocket, it also has brass hardware
