Make pedestrians aware of your presence with this integrated black bell from Brompton
We have 13 left in stock in stock
Warning: Last few in stock!
Availability date:
New in 2023, the louder (we think!) Brompton bell for letting pedestrians know you are there, this version is black to match your black handlebars or stand out form the silver
OK - so in the UK a bell is required to be on a brand new bicycle when sold
But it is not actually required by law on a bicycle
Bear in mind though, that if you take your Brompton abroad (including Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man) then a bell is a legal requirement
It can also be useful to help reduce the shock to others sharing your trail as you approach
Note - the bell is fitted to the right hand brake lever as standard although it can be fitted to the left hand lever
The packaging includes:
Colour: Black
Bell dome diameter: 35mm
Brompton Q part code: Q102595
We made this short video comparing the volume (in decibels) of this newer larger Brompton bell compared to the older smaller one
Doesn’t actually fit LH lever, and is identical to the bell inst
If you try to fit it to the LH lever, despite the lever clearly having 2 screw holes to receive the “socket head cap screws”, and a recess to receive the “inverted mounting block”, the “bell base” is asymmetric. So, when you “reverse the orientation of the bell base” it ends up about 16 mm closer to the handlebar than on the RH lever, and interferes, and not just a little bit, with the bolt in the clamp that holds the lever on the handlebar. To make it work, Brompton should supply 2 “bell bases”, one being a mirror image of the one in the box. Just telling us to reverse its orientation just demonstrates Brompton have never tried to actually do it!
[terms in “” are from the mounting instructions Brompton wrote in the box.]
I bought this so I’d have two bells, one by each hand. ☹️ £25 up the Swanee. ????
