More info

This Brompton upgrade kit allows you to convert your 3 speed Brompton with a Sachs (later called SRAM) 3 speed rear wheel to  Sturmey Archer / Brompton BSR (Brompton Standard Ratio) 3 speed rear wheel and includes all you should need for the upgrade (excluding tools).

This upgrade kit includes:

  • Brompton BSR (Brompton Standard Ratio) rear wheel - 2013 double walled rim version
  • Rim tape (yellow for the new 2013 wheel)
  • Axle nuts and washers (they are different on Sturmey Archer to SRAM - so use only these new ones)
  • Sprocket stack (let us know if you would like us to pre-fit it to the wheel) consisting of: Chain guard, Sprocket (13 tooth), Circlip
  • Gear indicator chain
  • Cable anchor
  • Chain

Please note: If you have an old 46T chainwheel and intend to use the included chain then you will also need to replace the front chainwheel with a 44 / 50 or 54 tooth one.

Hello, I have a 1997 Brompton, SA 5 speed, Sprinter trigger, M type bars, which I previously converted to a 3/32 chain and 50/13 sprockets. Unfortunately the rear axle has now broken :-( I can’t find the correct axle anywhere, or a close ration 5 speed kit either, I don’t want a wide ratio 5 speed one as the gaps are too large for me. So, could I use this kit to convert to a 3 speed BSR set up with a new SA 3 speed trigger. Thanks. Answer:
