Brompton raw lacquer BLACK

The black raw lacquer colour sees its first outing in this BLACK edition 2018 model Brompton

It looks just the normal/original raw lacquer but with a darker lacquer colour (don't worry it still shows off the workmanship on the frame). In the bright sunlight of our photos (we don't re-touch them) it looks slightly sparkly due to dust picked up on the way to this glamour shoot

Black/Black, Black/Orange and Black/Turkish Green options are also available

The bike built with 2018 specifications and the model is the M6L (M=handlebar type, 6=6 gears, L=with mudguards)

This 6 speed Brompton is rapidly becoming the most popular (at least for us) - taking over from the M3L (3 speed model) - with 6 gears over a wider range means that climbing hills just gets that bit easier

We love this new colour - the photos don't really do it justice - come and see it in the flesh

The Brompton BLACK edition raw lacquer M6L specification:

1. Frame
Its a regular - all steel Brompton frame (the frame is made of four parts - forks, rear triangle, main frame and handlebar stem)
Folded size: 585mm wide x 565mm tall by 270mm deep

2. Colour
Main frame: Raw Lacquer - black
Extremities: Raw Lacquer - black
Decal colour: This is the limited edition BLACK decal - it is non-contrasting with the bike so it doesn't spoil the black effect

3. Handlebars
2017 style M-type - the classic Brompton shape offering a comfortable ride - BLACK edition black bars
These were updated for 2017 with low rise version to give less flex and more space for grips - to accommodate the new lock-on (rather than glued) handlebar grips

The black foam lock-on grips are 130mm long - standard size on most bikes, so can easily be changed for alternatives such as Ergon should you so desire
The handlebars are finished with colour coded integrated brake / gear levers 

4. Gears / drivechain
6 speed BWR (Brompton Wide Ratio) internal hub gear - black hub - equipped rear wheel plus 2 speed derailleur system (giving 6 gears in total)
Derailleur chain tensioner
50T front chainring (black instead of silver)
100 link Brompton / SRAM chain with powerlink
Folding left hand pedal - black
Non-folding right hand pedal - black
13/16T rear sprockets 
New 2017 style integrated gear shifters and brakes (left - derailleur and right - hub) 

5. Front luggage system
Mounting lugs for future fitting of a Front carrier block

6. Mudguards
Front and rear mudguards for all weather riding / commuting - Black

7. Roller wheels
Standard roller wheels help keep the bike stable when folded 

8. Tyres / Wheels
Schwalbe Marathon tyres with reflective sidewall to help make you more visible to cars when riding in the dark 
Low rolling resistance and good puncture protection 
16 inch (ETRTO size 349) wheels with double wall rim and 28 spokes - for the black edition, the wheels have black hubs, black spokes and black rims (the braking surface is still silver)
Schrader / car type 8mm valve 

9. Saddle
Standard black Brompton saddle

Mounting point for Brompton CatEye rear light
Black saddle rails
The saddle mounts to the seat post using the Brompton Pentaclip - this allows for adjustment of the angle of the saddle and some height adjustment (buy turning the Pentaclip upside down)
Like so many Brompton parts - it has nice detailing - the Brompton logo in white on the black clip

10. Seat height
Brompton seat posts / pillars come in 3 options:
Standard
Extended 
Telescopic
This bike comes with a BLACK standard length seat post for riders with an inside leg measurement of up to 33 inches
(If you are taller - up to 35 inch inside leg - then an extended length seatpost can be fitted at no extra cost)
For very tall riders a telescopic seatpost is available at extra cost 

11. Suspension
Hard suspension is now the standard for Brompton bikes - originally it was labeled as suitable for riders above 70kg
(If you are below this weight this block is still suitable for you, but will give a firm/sporty ride)

12. Lighting / reflectors
Front and rear reflectors - white on the front and black on the back
The rear reflector mount is black on this BLACK edition bike (normally it is silver) - another one of those nice little detail features
