2018 model black (main frame) and red (extremities - handlebar stem, forks and rear triangle) Brompton folding bike

Model M6R (M=traditional Brompton handlebar type, 6=6 gears, R=with mudguards and rack). This bike has increased gearing making higher speeds possible and a front carrier block / T-bag for carrying luggage

Like all Bromptons, because it folds up (or should that be worn) to such a small size means it is accepted on just about all public transport, can be stored in small spaces (so there is no need to chance padlocking it up outside) or taken on a bus when touring the globe

Black is the most common colour for Brompton folding bikes, and this red is a new brighter one for 2018

1. Frame
Regular - all steel
Folded size: 585mm wide x 565mm tall by 270mm deep
New 2018 forks with larger hole for the new 2018 model brake callipers

Extremities (forks, handlebar stem, rear triangle): Red

3. Handlebars / grips
M-type - the original Brompton style bars.
These are the new 2017 onwards low-rise version which give more room for handlebar grips and less flex when pulling hard
The 2017 onwards model Brompton uses 130mm lock-on handlebar grips - the same size as most mountain / touring bikes, so making future changing easier (they are also not glued on, but held on with a lock screw)

4. Gears / drivechain
2 speed derailleur and 3 speed Sturmey Archer BWR gub hear system giving 6 gears in total
Derailleur chain tensioner
54T front chainring (the spider style chain ring introduced in 2013) - for increased gearing (chain ring can be changed to a smaller size for lower gearing at a later date if required)
13/16T rear sprockets
102 link Brompton / SRAM chain with powerlink
Folding left hand pedal
Non-folding right hand pedal 
Integrated (into brake levers) gear shifters (introduced on 2017 model Brompton) . The left hand gear shifter controls the derailleur and the right hand shifter controls the hub gears

5. Front luggage system
Front carrier block for carrying various Brompton luggage options
Brompton T-bag (or Touring bag) - large capacity bag with a roll top capable of carrying plenty of stuff!

6. Mudguards / Rack
Front and rear silver mudguards for all weather riding / commuting 
The rack allows you to carry home your pizza flat (we know it handles a 16 inch pizza box - from personal experience), go touring or just makes the bike more stable when folded 
New 2018 mudguards - they have a larger hole where they attach to the brake calliper - for the new 2018 models

7. Roller wheels
The new 2016 model roller wheels on both the rear frame and rack help keep the bike stable when folded, and allow you to wheel it while folded.

Reflective strip on the sidewall for improved night riding visibility 
16 inch (ETRTO size 349) wheels with double wall rim and 28 spokes

Extended height seatpost for riders with an inside leg measurement of up to 35 inches
If you are shorter - up to 33 inch inside leg - then an standard length seatpost can be fitted at a reduced cost
For very tall riders - a telescopic post can be fitted at an extra cost

11. Suspension
Firm/hard suspension - suitable for riders over 70kg
