Brompton Chain tensioner / gear indicator nut:

(This is the nut with a hole in the side)
Later hubs 2003 onwards (normally with alloy shell) use this nut.
The difference between this and the pre-2003 steel shell nut may be small - but it is essential to use the right one.

Hi! I have a problem with exactly this 19.5-mm-long nut on my post-2010 Brompton: a piece of the rod that this nut is normally screwed on broke and got stuck inside the nut. I cannot use the nut anymore, but I won't be able to use a new nut either because the remaining rod is too small to screw a new nut on. So I guess I need a new nut and a new rod. Can you advice me what rod I need to buy? Do you have it in stock? Is it possible to replace this rod at all (I haven't tried yet to disassemble the wheel to take it out)? In case it matters, I have a 6-gear model. Cheers. Answer:
All of the parts for the 6 speed are available as spare parts - so it can definitely be repaired. It's difficult to know exactly what you need though without seeing the damage - how about emailing us a photograph ?
